What sample is required?

The determination is made from a venous blood sample.

Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?

For this test you do not need any special preparation.

Why do the analysis?

To find out if you have a hereditary mutation in a gene that increases the risk of clot formation, and therefore of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and/or venous thromboembolism.

When to do the analysis?

A couple of months after having suffered a thrombotic episode or when an anticoagulant treatment with heparin does not respond adequately.
