Why do the analysis?
To monitor the treatment of ovarian cancer or detect a recurrence of it; sometimes to evaluate a pelvic mass; it is not recommended as a screening tool in asymptomatic women, although it can sometimes be helpful in detecting ovarian cancer in its earliest stages in people at high risk.
When to do the analysis?
Before starting ovarian cancer treatment and at regular intervals during and after treatment; sometimes when there is a pelvic mass or if there is a high risk of developing ovarian cancer.
