The determination is made from a venous blood sample from the arm.
Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?
For this test you do not need any special preparation.
Why do the analysis?
To help assess adrenal gland function; to detect adrenal tumors or cancers; in women and girls to determine the cause of virilization and in boys to determine the cause of precocious puberty.
When to do the analysis?
When a woman or girl has excessive facial and body hair (hirsutism), acne, amenorrhea, or infertility; when a boy experiences precocious (early) puberty or when a girl shows signs of virilization.
