What sample is required?
The determination is made from a venous blood or urine sample collected in a controlled time, normally 24 hours.
Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?
For this test you do not need any special preparation.
Why do the analysis?
To assess the levels of phosphorus in the blood or urine and to aid in the diagnosis of disorders that increase or decrease its levels.
When to do the analysis?
When there is an altered calcium concentration; in kidney disorders or poorly controlled diabetes; when taking calcium or phosphorus supplements.
