What sample is required?

The determination is made from a venous blood sample, or by finger or heel prick (in newborns).

Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?

For this test you do not need any special preparation.

Why do the analysis?

To determine the general state of health; to detect, diagnose or monitor a wide variety of diseases that can affect blood cells, such as anemia, infections, inflammations, bleeding disorders or cancer.

When to do the analysis?

As part of a regular medical examination; when signs or symptoms suggestive of involvement of blood cells occur; regularly to monitor treatments or in case the treatment administered may affect the blood cells.
