For this test you do not need any special preparation.
Why do the analysis?
To evaluate the cause of elevated homocysteine levels; sometimes to assess the risk of thrombosis or premature cardiovascular disease (CVD).
When to do the analysis?
When you have had an unexplained thrombotic (blood clot) event, especially before the age of 45, if you have had recurrent episodes of DVT or venous thromboembolism, if these thrombotic events occurred during pregnancy or were have developed in atypical areas of the body or if there is a family history of thrombosis.
