What sample is required?

The determination is made from a venous blood sample.

Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?

Why do the analysis?

To verify that anticoagulant treatments are effective in preventing clot formation; to detect and diagnose a bleeding disorder.

When to do the analysis?

If you are taking anticoagulants or if your doctor suspects that you may have a bleeding disorder. It is also recommended to perform it before any surgery as a preoperative control.
