What sample is required?

In women, a sample of vaginal secretions; in males, a sample of urethral secretions. In some cases a urine sample may be necessary.

Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?

For this test you do not need any special preparation.

Why do the analysis?

To detect an active or recent mycoplasma (a class of bacteria) infection.

When to do the analysis?

When a woman presents symptoms or signs of infection such as foul-smelling vaginal discharge, genital itching and/or pain when urinating, or when a man presents genital irritation or itching, burning after urination or ejaculation and/or appearance of urethral discharge.
