What sample is required?

The determination is made from a venous blood sample.

Is some kind of prior preparation necessary?

For this test you do not need any special preparation.

Why do the analysis?

To screen or diagnose an infection by Treponema pallidum, a microorganism that causes a sexually transmitted disease (STD) known as syphilis.

When to do the analysis?

When you have symptoms of syphilis infection or are at increased risk of syphilis infection, for example when you have another STD or HIV infection, or if your sexual partner has been infected, or if you engage in unsafe sexual practices high risk, or during pregnancy.
